John, Chapter 3
This chapter has a lot of points to cover, but some points are comparatively simple to accomplish.
1. Adding Participants to the Course (pages 79-87)
2. Selecting Navigation Links and setting Home Page are important, and discussed on pages 89-92. Dashboard and content page layout also should be considered here, as per pages 92-95.
3. Laying out Modules allows one to construct a syllabus, which also will need a calendar, pages 96-103.
4. After testing the student view of the course, one is ready to Publish the course for others to see. (Pages 103-106)
1. Adding Participants to the Course (pages 79-87)
- Managing Users - Specifics: Put at least 2 students in your class
- Putting Users into Groups - Specifics Make at least one student group
2. Selecting Navigation Links and setting Home Page are important, and discussed on pages 89-92. Dashboard and content page layout also should be considered here, as per pages 92-95.
- Specifics:
- Set Navigation links for all the links you want students to see
- Hide navigation links for all the links you do not want students to see, or which might be confusing for students to see other than when those items are used in an assignment or other location in your course site.
- Select and set a Home Page layout.
3. Laying out Modules allows one to construct a syllabus, which also will need a calendar, pages 96-103.
- Specifics:
- Develop at least two modules. If your course structure/syllabus has more than 2 parts make a module for each part.
- To see how a module works, please include in at least 2 modules the following in each:
- Assignment
- Discussion
- Quiz
- Note: To do some of these things you may need to go back to Chapter 2 to see how they are set up. I had expected you to do an assignment and quiz for Chapter 2 and just have to go back to check on the Discussion, at this point.
- Use the discussion of The Syllabus Layout in the book to put your syllabus into a "polished" form that includes at least 2 course calendar events. (Perhaps noting a Field trip, and a Holiday or Birthday, might be easiest.)
4. After testing the student view of the course, one is ready to Publish the course for others to see. (Pages 103-106)
- Specifics:
- Test and Publish your course
- Explain how you tested your site (what you looked for) in your weekly reflection.
